Aishi Kimi ni, Koibumi wo
愛し君に、戀文を
milkychain page

About: It is the Meiji era, and Japan had only just beginning to adapt to the Western influence which rapidly changing the country through the sharing of technology and ideology. Hakumei University is an unusual university at the time where it welcomes both male and female students, and even have them to attend the same lectures together. Inevitably there will be admiration between themselves, and some would send a love letter to the person they are interested with, as it is the popular means to do so. This series is about four people in the university, and their budding romance that starts with such a letter.

  • Hazama Ritsu (CV: Domon Atsushi)
Ritsu is a second year university student who came from a distinguished family of policemen. Although being grown up in a very strict upbringing, he didn't develop the stereotypical rigidness one would associate with the police. Though, he is very awkward around girls as he was never sure how to act around them.

He liked the MC since he first saw her around the university and sent her a love letter to tell her how he felt, before they even knew each other's names. MC accepted his feelings and they dated for a while, mostly at the library. One day Ritsu told her that he will be quitting (or put it on hold?) university to enter a certain (police? military?) academy in Britain to pursue the same career as his father and every men in his family. It will be in a half of year and he wished MC would wait for him then, to which she said she would.

  • Houjou Yukiya (CV: Teratake Jun)
A second year student, Yukiya's family is very well known for being the major name in international trade. He is also the childhood friend of MC, and have known each other for the most of their lives. Yukiya, very popular for being very sociable and approachable, one day was given a love letter from the MC to tell him how she honestly felt about him all those years knowing one another. It made him immensely happy as he had always liked MC, even way before he recognized his own feelings.

Yukiya then admits that he never thought the dream of being in a relationship with MC would ever be true because of the class difference between both of their families. MC is a cherished daughter of her family that's way out of his league, and Yukiya knows neither of their families would ever want them to marry because of it. Despite all that, he swore to MC that he would never let her go. MC also told him that she only wanted the happiness of them being in love with each other.

  • Wakasa Kyouichirou (CV: Prof. Shiryuu)
MC is a student of Kyouichirou's class, a young Professor of the Hakumei University. I am skipping this volume for a personal reason. Sorry.

  • Miyama Katsumi (CV: Hayate Jin)
As a second son of a kimono maker family, Katsumi has the freedom to lead his own life because he is not required to inherit the business. He found passion in painting and would paint so long he has the time. He fell in love with MC since seeing her from afar and would like to give her a love letter to confess, but he could not gather enough confidence to do so thus gave up before he could send it. The letter accidentally fell somewhere and MC happened to pick it up and read it (in order to know who to return it to). He learned later that MC is a year above him and he felt bad for not being a bit more polite with her. Fortunately for Katsumi, MC accepted his feelings but they decided to take things slowly and learn more about each other.

I actually can't understand a lot of his story for the words used are not those I'm familiar with. I think he mentioned his family is poor? (shitate?), but he has a house where he lived away from his family by himself as well. So...? If someone knows more Japanese than I do, I'd appreciate if you can explain me what his issues are.

Final say: As I have mentioned before, I have a very big issue against any teacher x student couplings, regardless they are both of legal age or not. It's a personal thing, I'm sorry. So, putting aside the Kyouichirou volume, the other three are very nice with decent little stories, as such you would expect out most of milkychain's. Though, I would have loved this series to give me more on the drama though. The background of the stories are well thought out and pretty original, but... that's all there is to it. There's not really any depth to the plot of the stories; just the two of them confessing, then later the sex having. A bit of a waste, IMO.
