恋人vs二次元
Koibito vs. Nijigen
About: Love stories of when someone dated a serious gamer.
Haibara Kaoru (CV: Murano Sumito)
MC and Kaoru had known each other since high school, and is currently dating ever since they both entered the working age. While MC is a hardcore otome gamer who didn't limit herself to just games, but to situation drama cds as well, Kaoru barely knew much about her interests aside from it's the only thing she would go all out for. He even cares so much to learn more about her hobby like looking up on her favorite game and etc., just so he would have something mutual to talk to her.
MC revealed to him one day that she liked a certain voice actor and the specific character that he played for a drama cd because the actor sounded very similar to Kaoru. This led to the boyfriend to feel a bit of jealousy towards the fictionalized character and considered him to be his rival. He tried to imitate the character's fancy way of talking and act how would a 'prince charming' would behave. However, he accidentally stepped on her precious limited edition figurine and caused a minor injury to his feet. Kaoru was devastated and apologized profusely, but MC showed that she cared more about her boyfriend's injury than the figurine.
Kayamori Haruki (CV: Asagi Yuu)
Haruki is younger than his girlfriend by 2 years and lived alone. MC would frequent to his place whenever she missed the last train home, to stay the night. Haruki, an avid gamer and other anime culture, said he has a plan to go to an event the next day but MC said she'd tag along. He told her that she would be bored there as there will not be anything interesting to her, yet she insists.
MC eventually felt like she would never be like the fictionalized characters Haruki liked, and although she tried to share the same interest, something always comes between them. One day, as she was cleaning his room, she saw some adult books hidden. Haruki immediately denies that it was his, and that it was his friend's that he took to keep for a while. MC asked him if he prefers like the characters he liked (which was polar opposite to how she is), but he told her those were just fantasy, and can't be compared to a real living person. After some more talking, they managed to express about their insecurities and made up.
Final say: Despite this series being a bit cliched, I think it's a sweet and wholesome stories. I was very amused with the amount of funny scenes in Kaoru's side. Reminded me of Murano's Date Biyori lol. Too bad Murano didn't do much of anything new since 2017.
